FAQ's

We’re here to help and support you during this difficult time. If you can’t find the answer that you’re looking for, please contact us directly for more information.

  • What do I need to do before you clear the home?

Clear the property of valuable items, documents and anything of sentimental value. If you don’t have access to the property, please send a description of those items to us or have them clearly marked.

  • What will happen with my loved ones possessions?

Depending on your goals, we can resell and rehome any items that you don’t want to keep. Alternatively, if your loved one had a cause that was special to them, we can arrange to donate to any organisations in line with the cause in their name.

  • Do I need to be there when you clear out the home?

If we are working alongside you, we will create a schedule that accommodates your needs. If we are completing the clearing on your behalf, your presence is not required, but we will keep you updated regularly throughout the process.

  • Will the home be professionally cleaned at the end?

No, we don’t provide a professional cleaning service. However, we do minor cleaning during the process. If you’d like the home professionally cleaned, we can arrange this for you.

  • What will happen to confidential documentation?

We will consult with you to decide whether to keep the documents for you or, with your permission, arrange for secure shredding.

  • What will you do if you find an item of value?

If we discover any hidden or forgotten valuable items, we will contact you immediately and provide a photo for confirmation. You can choose whether we store the item for collection, arrange for it to be sent to you, or follow your specific instructions. At Compassionate Home Clearing, we prioritise honesty, trust, and care, treating your loved one’s possessions with the utmost respect.

  • How will you choose where you donate my loved ones' possessions?

During our initial meeting, we’ll ask if your loved one had a preferred charity or cause they supported. If so, we will prioritise donating to that organisation. If no preference is given, we will rehome possessions through a combination of charities, op shops, donation pages, and local community groups.
